The Lodge Family Made it Home

When O came to New Orleans with her three children, it was out of love and responsibility. She’d made the trip to help care for her sick mother, but things didn’t go as planned.

Soon after arriving, the situation at home became tense. Her mother asked them to leave, and O and her children were forced to move into a shelter. Things became even more difficult when the father of her children, someone with a history of violence, learned she was in the city and began making threats toward her and her family.

That’s when O turned to Grace at the Green Light.

Through our Going Home program we were able to purchase a flight and give them each a Grace bag with snacks for O and her children to join her aunt in another state. We worked quickly to make sure they could leave safely and without delay.

Now, O and her kids are doing great! She just accepted a job and begins working next week. She’s also in the process of signing up for benefits to help her family move toward stability and eventually into a place of their own.
