Read below about how M and her daughter are doing after Going Home.

When M came to Grace at the Green Light, she was carrying the weight of more than one challenge. She had recently injured her leg and couldn’t work, which left her and her daughter facing eviction. On top of that, her grandfather in Texas, who had always been a steady presence in her life, had fallen seriously ill, and she needed to be there to help care for him.

M’s daughter has special needs, and making a long trip together wasn’t simple. She worried about how she would manage the hours on the bus and whether they’d have what they needed along the way. That’s when her community stepped in. In addition to the snack bags that Grace at the Green Light provided,  her neighbors rallied around her, gathering snacks and small activities to keep her daughter comfortable and for the ride.

With Grace’s help, M and her daughter were able to make the trip safely to Texas. She arrived not only ready to support her grandfather, but also with the encouragement of knowing that she had a community cheering her on.

Today, M and her daughter are doing well. They are with family, in a more stable environment, and M is taking steps to get back on her feet. She recently began working a new job, and is saving up so she and her daughter can have their own place!
